Rain moving through today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW with a settled glass. On Lac Platt, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Platt sits. This is mixed forest ground. At about 22 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 2.2 km keeps the choices simple. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Some 36 km away sits Ferme-Neuve, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Gatineau, 158 km distant. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Platt a short move beats a long cast.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -15°C for January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing Lac Platt regularly works to that calendar.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Isole sits 1.3 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Platt.
