A closed sky with even light today, with a decent S wind working the banks with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Pit are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. The best of it runs night into morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Pit is a Mauricie water, in Quebec. It sits at 386 metres above sea level. A splashy cast here empties the swim; a quiet one owns it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. La Tuque sits 45 km from here and is the nearest stop. For a city, Saguenay is 124 km off. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end. Count hundreds within 25 km of here and hundreds within 50 km.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Pit the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -16°C for January. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Pit.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Junior is 0.5 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Pit in what we hold.
