Clear conditions and high sun today, with next to no ripple and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Pigeon should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Pigeon is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, Quebec side. Around the bank it is pine and birch. At some 1.05 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The bank runs about 4.8 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. On our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list it sits near the top for size. The closest town, Saint-Isidore, is 17 km distant. Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues is 19 km away, with Ville-Marie at 31 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Pigeon the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is -16°C to 18°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Pigeon rarely departs from it.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac a l'Ours is 0.9 km distant. Check the position at Lac Pigeon before loading the car.
