An even grey lid over the water, with light air out of the SSW with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Pierre is the first drop-off and weed lines. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

You will find Lac Pierre in Lanaudière, Quebec. The water sits 488 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Lanaudière standards. The nearest town is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 19 km away. After that come Manawan at 54 km and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm at 63 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Fish Lac Pierre where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -15°C for January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Pierre.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Moise is 2.9 km distant. Treat Lac Pierre as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
