An even grey lid over the water, with a steady SSW wind with a settled glass. The productive water at Lac Picoulos will be around the calm side of the wind. A steady middling day from end to end. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Picoulos in Lanaudière, Quebec. Height above sea level is 520 metres. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. The closest town, Manawan, is 40 km away. After that come Weymontachie at 76 km and Leblanc at 84 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. The shape of Lac Picoulos rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Lac Picoulos runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac Marson, 1.9 km out. For Lac Picoulos in particular, ask before you travel.
