Wet weather working through today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Phil is windblown banks where food collects. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Phil in Mauricie, Quebec. The ground around here is rolling bush. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Weymontachie at 55 km is the nearest place to stop. The nearest city of size is Trois-Rivières, 146 km away. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Mauricie list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Phil the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Seasonal averages run from -16°C in January up to 17°C in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Phil fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Lac Max, 0.2 km away. What applies at Lac Phil may have changed since it was mapped.
