Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a mirror surface most of the day with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Perron should be near the shallows early and the drop later. Little to get excited about, though the evening holds a sliver of promise. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

In Quebec, Lac Perron belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Height above sea level is 678 metres. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With about 2.4 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Saint-Honoré, is 41 km distant. Beyond it, Saint-Ambroise at 47 km and Saint-Fulgence at 49 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Perron before you fish it and the day goes better.
Typical July readings run about 15°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid May. In an average year the thaw lands around mid May and the freeze near early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Perron fishes to that pattern most years.
We hold no note on access for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Lac Noyer is 0.6 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Perron in what we hold.
