Dull, settled light over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Perdu along shallow cover and weed edges. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

This water sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Elevation runs to 452 metres. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 2.0 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. For supplies, Normandin is 77 km out. Albanel is 77 km away, with Dolbeau-Mistassini at 91 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Perdu the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Lac Perdu regularly works to that calendar.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Creux, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Perdu are worth checking on the day.
