Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with the water lying quiet and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Perdu should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Perdu sits. It sits at 506 metres above sea level. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Laurentides standards. The closest town, Rivière-Rouge, is 32 km distant. Beyond it, Ferme-Neuve at 41 km and Mont-Laurier at 48 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Read Lac Perdu before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Time your trip to Lac Perdu by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Lac Racicot, 1.6 km out. For Lac Perdu, the notice at the access point is the final word.
