Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light WSW breeze and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Pearson should centre on any hard bottom among the soft. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Quebec holds Lac Pearson, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. This is spruce and muskeg ground. At about 10 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. About 2.1 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Albanel sits 66 km from the bank. Dolbeau-Mistassini lies 66 km off, Pont Rouge another 68 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Our records hold no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Lac Pearson before you fish it and the day goes better.
Seasonal averages run from -20°C in January up to 16°C in July. The ice season is long here and the open one short. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Pearson.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Papillote at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Pearson are worth checking on the day.
