Dull, settled light over the water, with a mirror surface most of the day with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Patry is reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Patry is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings for Quebec. What surrounds it is northern bush. The water measures roughly 7 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Senneterre at 92 km is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Lebel-sur-Quévillon (120 km) and Barraute (121 km). Other water nearby: Lac Trevet about 4.5 km, Lac Bart at 5 km, Lac Prive about 5.2 km, Lac Oride at 5.5 km and Lac Viger about 5.7 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Patry gives up more to patience than to distance.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Patry.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Trevet, 4.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Lac Patry locally before you travel.
