A rainy spell sitting over the area, with the surface near flat with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac Otis should come off the calm side of the wind. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Otis is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. Height above sea level is 435 metres. It measures about 32 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 3.1 km, and most of it is walkable. Start from Godefroy, 122 km down the road. Port-Cartier follows at 148 km, then Saint-Alexandre at 149 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Côte-Nord list logperch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Take Lac Otis a stretch at a time.
Long-term averages put July at about 15°C and January near -20°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Count the season from break-up, usually mid May. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to early November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac Otis the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Marenger, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Otis is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
