Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light chop building from the S and pressure sitting still. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Lac O'Neil. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Laurentides entry here is Lac O'Neil, in Quebec. It sits in lake country bush country. At about 88 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The perimeter runs near 5.4 km, so plan the walk before you start. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. The closest town, Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, is 38 km distant. Saint-Raphaël follows at 40 km, then Val-des-Monts at 45 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. At Lac O'Neil light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The year swings from about -14°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac O'Neil.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A camping area sits within 860 m of here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac de la Perchaude at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac O'Neil before loading the car.
