Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Omphale, work structure within a cast of the bank first. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Quebec, Lac Omphale belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Elevation runs to 400 metres. With some 16 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 3.0 km of margin, front to back. Normandin at 79 km is the nearest place to stop. It is 196 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Omphale the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 16°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Omphale.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Failing this one, try Lac des Pilasses, 1.6 km away. Where Lac Omphale is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
