A grey, even sky over the water, with almost no wind to speak of with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Ocada around shallow cover and weed edges. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Night
Lac Ocada is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. Height above sea level is 424 metres. Roughly 37 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. A shoreline of some 3.8 km keeps the choices simple. The closest town, Ferme-Neuve, is 109 km distant. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 243 km away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch and walleye among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Fish Lac Ocada where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -17°C at the bottom of winter. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Ocada runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Lac Mirza, 0.7 km away. Confirm access to Lac Ocada locally before you travel.
