Bands of rain crossing through the day, with barely a breath of wind with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac North should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Nord-du-Québec entry here is Lac North, in Quebec. Around the bank it is taiga. With some 10 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 2.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. It is a small entry by Nord-du-Québec standards. Chibougamau sits 2.4 km from here and is the nearest stop. Further out sit Chapais (38 km) and Mistissini (64 km). No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac North that means starting tight and working out.
Seasonal averages run from -20°C in January up to 16°C in July. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Lac North the same rules apply, with local timing.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Fleury, 1 km away. Ask locally about Lac North if anything is unclear.
