Wind working the surface all day, with a firm SSW blow with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Noranda is bays that hold the day's warmth. Numbers are low everywhere; the evening is the pick of them. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Noranda falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. At about 16 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 1.8 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The town to know is Rouyn-Noranda, 1.1 km out. Macamic follows at 57 km, then La Sarre at 64 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Treat Lac Noranda as a water to read rather than to cover.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -16°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Lac Noranda regularly works to that calendar.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is a car park 370 m from the bank. A picnic spot sits 410 m from the bank. Mapping records toilets within 450 m. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac du Senateur at 1.6 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Lac Noranda before loading the car.
