Dull, settled light over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Noir around sheltered bays and points. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

In Quebec, Lac Noir belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. What surrounds it is boreal forest. About 2 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. The closest town, Saint-Honoré, is 25 km distant. Saint-Fulgence lies 29 km off, Chicoutimi another 35 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Noir the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid May. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near early November in autumn. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac Noir rarely departs from it.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac Claude is 0.6 km off. Nothing on Lac Noir should be assumed from this page alone.
