Unstable air with storms likely today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Noir should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Noir belongs to Laurentides, Quebec. The land about it is lake country bush. It runs to roughly 19 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Roughly 2.9 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. The nearest place of any size is La Minerve, 27 km away. Further out sit Mont-Laurier (28 km) and Rivière-Rouge (29 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lac Noir light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -15°C on the long-run figures. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Noir.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Failing this one, try Lac Bondy, 0.7 km away. Check the position on Lac Noir before loading the car.
