Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with mild air moving in from the SW and steady pressure. Activity on Lac Nevet should centre on the calm side of the wind. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Nevet falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 373 metres. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Abitibi-Témiscamingue standards. You are 106 km from Saint-Boniface. After that come Maniwaki at 118 km and Val-d'Or at 118 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Treat Lac Nevet as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -17°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. On Lac Nevet the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Rinceau at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac Nevet before loading the car.
