A mixed sky through the night, with mild air moving in from the SSW and steady pressure. On Lac Neil, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

This water sits in Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in lake country bush country. It runs to roughly 32 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The bank runs about 4.0 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Size puts it in the front rank of our Outaouais list. The nearest town is Saint-Raphaël, 35 km away. After that come Wakefield at 41 km and Fort-Coulonge at 46 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Fish Lac Neil where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Seasonal averages run from -13°C in January up to 19°C in July. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly early December. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac Neil runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Thompson is 0.8 km distant. What applies at Lac Neil may have changed since it was mapped.
