Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a working WNW breeze and the barometer holding steady. On Lac Napoleon, work sheltered bays and points first. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Quebec holds Lac Napoleon, in Côte-Nord. It stands 289 metres above sea level. Baie-Comeau sits 23 km from here and is the nearest stop. Hauterive follows at 23 km, then Chute-aux-Outardes at 33 km. Also worth knowing: Lac Brumeux lies 1.1 km on, Lac Bacon out at 2.1 km, Lac Pauvre lies 2.2 km on, Lac Toboggan out at 2.3 km and Lac de la Peninsule lies 2.6 km on. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Napoleon the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Napoleon.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Brumeux at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac Napoleon before loading the car.
