No direct sun expected today, with a soft SSW wind with the barometer flat. Lac Napoleon should fish best around bays that hold the day's warmth today. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Napoleon is a Mauricie water, in Quebec. Around the bank it is northern bush. Surface area is around 36 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With about 4.2 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Supplies mean a trip to Leblanc, 25 km off. For a city, Saguenay is 227 km off. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Fish Lac Napoleon where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Time your trip to Lac Napoleon by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Irvine at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Napoleon should be assumed from this page alone.
