Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with calm air over the water and no real change in pressure. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Lac Nabinaud. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Nabinaud sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. The bank is 387 metres above sea level. Small at around 9 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Val-d'Or sits 88 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 259 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. The near bank of Lac Nabinaud is often the one people ignore.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Lac Nabinaud the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Tartara sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Nabinaud in what we hold.
