A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the SSW with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Muscade should centre on the margins and the shelf beyond them. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Muscade in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. It lies 632 metres above sea level. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list holds plenty of bigger water. Nearest town is Saint-Honoré, 53 km off. It is 65 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Muscade for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Averages here run 15°C at the top of summer and -19°C at the bottom of winter. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid May. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near early November in autumn. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Time your trip to Lac Muscade by conditions rather than dates.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Racicot is 0.6 km distant. Check the current arrangement for Lac Muscade.
