A wet system passing over today, with a whisper of wind from the WSW and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Morin are likely to sit near windblown banks where food collects. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Morin is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 682 metres. It measures some 2.11 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. The shoreline runs about 18 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It ranks high for size among our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings. The closest town, Saint-Fulgence, is 28 km away. Then Saint-Honoré, 29 km, and Chicoutimi, 36 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Morin a short move beats a long cast.
Averages here run 15°C at the top of summer and -19°C at the bottom of winter. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Once it clears, about mid May, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages suggest open water from about mid May through to roughly early November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Morin.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Quenouille, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Morin, the notice at the access point is the final word.
