No direct sun expected today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Mohawk along windblown banks where food collects. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Mohawk sits in Estrie, out in Quebec. Height above sea level is 707 metres. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Most waters listed here for Estrie are larger. Head to Sutton, 4.1 km away, for anything you forgot. It is 64 km to Sherbrooke, the nearest city. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Estrie include rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Mohawk the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Average temperature peaks around 19°C in July and bottoms out near -10°C in January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid April. The lid tends to go about mid April and return around early December. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Mohawk.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping records toilets within 1.5 km. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Spruce at 2.9 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Mohawk are worth checking on the day.
