Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a faint SE drift and steady pressure. Activity on Lac Mixar should centre on the margins and the shelf beyond them. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

Lac Mixar is a Nord-du-Québec water, in Quebec. The ground round it is taiga. At roughly 10.88 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. Around 51 km of margin, so directions matter more than a general plan. It ranks high for size among our Nord-du-Québec listings. Some 262 km away sits Fermont, the nearest settlement. Beyond it, Labrador City at 267 km and Wabush at 271 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Mixar the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Between January at about -24°C and July at about 14°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Winter locks it down, and late May brings it back. Open water usually runs from late May until about early November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Mixar fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Square Rock, 4.8 km away. Check the position on Lac Mixar before loading the car.
