Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a decent WNW wind working the banks and pressure sitting still. Give any hard bottom among the soft the first hour at Lac Migneault. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

You will find Lac Migneault in Côte-Nord, Quebec. This is spruce and muskeg ground. It measures about 46 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Shoreline comes to about 4.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. The town to know is Chute-aux-Outardes, 13 km out. Beyond it, Hauterive at 21 km and Betsiamites at 28 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Côte-Nord cover logperch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Migneault responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The range across the year is -15°C to 17°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Lac Migneault that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Helene at 1.7 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position on Lac Migneault before loading the car.
