An even grey lid over the water, with a faint S drift with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Michelle along points where shallow meets deep. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Michelle is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. The setting is boreal forest. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. The closest town, Labrecque, is 29 km distant. Saguenay sits 49 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac Michelle where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac Michelle fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Levesque, 1.8 km away. Check the position on Lac Michelle before loading the car.
