Rain on and off through the day, with a decent SSW wind working the banks with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac Mere is the seam between weed and open water. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Mere lies in Lanaudière, Quebec. Around the bank it is northern bush. Some 34 km away sits Manawan, the nearest settlement. Saint-Michel-des-Saints lies 58 km off, Rivière-Rouge another 62 km. Others worth noting: Lac Beautiran at 0.4 km, 1.1 km out stands Lac Puddle, Lac Frances at 1.6 km, 2.2 km out stands Lac Argenton and Lac Bisco at 2.4 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Mere the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Mere fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Beautiran, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Mere carry more weight than any list.
