The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Menus. It lies 411 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Saint-Boniface sits 67 km from the bank. Beyond it, Maniwaki at 80 km and Ferme-Neuve at 82 km. Within a short drive: Lac Snow at about 1.2 km, Lac Astomes at 1.5 km, Lac Polype at about 2.5 km, Lac du Sanglier at 2.7 km and Lac Protistes at about 2.9 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac Menus for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -17°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. At Lac Menus the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac Snow is 1.2 km off. Ask locally about Lac Menus if anything is unclear.
