Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with an easy breeze from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Lac Meche should fish best around sheltered bays and points today. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Meche belongs to Outaouais, Quebec. The setting is pine and birch. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 1.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Head to Saint-Boniface, 23 km away, for anything you forgot. For a city, Gatineau is 115 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Meche that means starting tight and working out.
The year swings from about -14°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Meche fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac a la Tortue sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac Meche are worth checking on the day.
