A grey, even sky over the water, with light air out of the S and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac McNab is shallow cover and weed edges. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac McNab falls in Outaouais, part of Quebec. The surface lies 212 metres up. It runs to roughly 23 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Around 1.9 km of margin, front to back. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. For supplies, Val-des-Monts is 9.1 km out. Wakefield follows at 14 km, then Cantley at 20 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. At Lac McNab light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about -13°C and July at about 19°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly early December. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. It holds true on Lac McNab more years than not.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Lac de la Loutre, 0.9 km away. None of that is settled for Lac McNab in what we hold.
