Glare on the water under a clear sky, with a useful WNW wind pushing food about and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Mayo will be around reed fringes and open pockets. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Outaouais, Quebec, this is Lac Mayo. The bank is 375 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 17 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Bank access stretches around 3.7 km in total. Val-des-Monts sits 26 km from here and is the nearest stop. The nearest city of size is Orléans, 41 km away. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac Mayo gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The range across the year is -13°C to 18°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. It holds true on Lac Mayo more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac de l'Epinette, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Mayo as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
