Wet weather working through today, with a kind S breeze on the water and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Massie should be near points where shallow meets deep. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac Massie in the Laurentides part of Quebec. It lies 377 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Roughly 2.5 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Ferme-Neuve sits 16 km from here and is the nearest stop. Mont-Laurier lies 34 km off, Saint-Boniface another 59 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Anyone new to Lac Massie should walk it once before setting up.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. That shapes the year on Lac Massie.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Grand lac Rabot is 3.1 km off. Signs at Lac Massie carry more weight than any list.
