Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a persistent wind from the E and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Martinet along the shallows early and the drop later. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

The Nord-du-Québec entry here is Lac Martinet, in Quebec. It lies 194 metres above sea level. About 5.61 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The outline measures near 27 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. By size it stands out even at Quebec level. Inukjuak sits 130 km from the bank. Further out sit Puvirnituq (221 km) and Sanikiluaq (268 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Martinet where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Between February at about -24°C and July at about 11°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Once it clears, about early June, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about early June to early November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Lac Martinet rarely departs from it.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Kapisiliqajuirutiq at 18 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Martinet.
