A bright day with hardly any cloud, with mild air moving in from the SW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Martin are likely to sit near points where shallow meets deep. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Martin in Montérégie, Quebec. What surrounds it is pine and birch. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. 3.7 km away sits Saint-Édouard, the nearest town. Ville-Marie is the closest city, 30 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Montérégie list lake sturgeon, pumpkinseed, tench, common carp and yellow perch. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. The near bank of Lac Martin is often the one people ignore.
July runs about 21°C on average, January about -10°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly early December. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It holds true on Lac Martin more years than not.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Parking is mapped about 550 m from the bank. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Cristal, 15 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Martin are worth checking on the day.
