No direct sun expected today, with a faint WSW drift and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Marcee should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Marcee is one of the Nord-du-Québec waters in Quebec. Taiga runs right down to the water. At some 1.86 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. There is roughly 7.3 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. The closest town, Matagami, is 83 km distant. Then Waskaganish, 132 km, and Waswanipi, 138 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Marcee that means starting tight and working out.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Marcee fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Nichikw at 12 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Marcee for certain.
