Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac Mandin is structure within a cast of the bank. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Look for Lac Mandin in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. This is spruce and muskeg country. At about 22 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 2.4 km in total. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Manawan sits 31 km from the bank. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne sits 150 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Public occurrence data for Lanaudière names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Lac Mandin gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The range across the year is -16°C to 17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Mandin.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac Ecorcei at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Mandin, the notice at the access point is the final word.
