Solid cloud cover today, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Mallet around sheltered bays and points. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Mallet in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Lake country bush runs right down to the water. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Some 20 km away sits Notre-Dame-du-Lac, the nearest settlement. Témiscaming lies 22 km off, Ville-Marie another 51 km. A county boundary sits nearby, which can matter for local access rules.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Mallet the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan any trip to Lac Mallet around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac Vessiere, 0.8 km out. Rules at Lac Mallet are worth checking on the day.
