Overcast skies today, with an easy breeze from the WSW with the barometer flat. On Lac Mack, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Mack is one of the Nipissing District listings for Ontario. Elevation runs to 252 metres. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Nipissing District standards. Mattawa at 20 km is the nearest place to stop. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 196 km distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Nipissing District names smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Lac Mack the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac Mack fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Lac du Chene is 2.1 km off. Check the position at Lac Mack before loading the car.
