Steady rain over the water today, with dead-still conditions with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Maceron should be near shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Quebec holds Lac Maceron, in Outaouais. It lies 365 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 94 km distant. For a city, Gatineau is 202 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Maceron responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Maceron runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Garac at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Maceron carry more weight than any list.
