Soft grey light all day today, with mild air moving in from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Lutaud should come off shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Lutaud is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. The setting is northern bush on every side. This is sizeable water at about 6.38 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. You have roughly 49 km of edge to choose from, which rewards a scouting trip. It ranks high for size among our Côte-Nord listings. Labrador City is the closest place, 146 km off. Further out sit Wabush (152 km) and Fermont (156 km). This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Lutaud where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Expect July to average close to 12°C, with January the cold end at about -24°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Break-up comes around late May, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about late May to around late October, expect open water on the long-run figures. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. At Lac Lutaud the season follows that pattern closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac La Milleraye, 11 km out. Confirm access to Lac Lutaud locally before you travel.
