Overcast skies today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Luneaux are likely to sit near sheltered bays and points. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Luneaux is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. At about 13 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 1.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Leblanc lies 73 km from the water. Normandin is 79 km and Saint-Félicien 84 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Take Lac Luneaux a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Lac Luneaux the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac du Sabot is 1.8 km off. What applies at Lac Luneaux may have changed since it was mapped.
