Heavy weather possible later today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Lortie, work reed fringes and open pockets first. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Lortie lies in Laurentides, Quebec. The country round it is rolling bush from end to end. It measures about 31 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Roughly 2.8 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Size puts it in the front rank of our Laurentides list. Start from Saint-Boniface, 18 km down the road. After that come Mont-Laurier at 20 km and Maniwaki at 25 km. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Lortie that means starting tight and working out.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. On Lac Lortie the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Giroux sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Lortie, the notice at the access point is the final word.
