Overcast skies today, with air barely moving and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Longene should be near the margins and the shelf beyond them. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Out in Laurentides, Quebec, sits Lac Longene. The ground around here is boreal forest. With some 34 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. You are looking at roughly 6.1 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. It ranks high for size among our Laurentides listings. The nearest place of any size is Ferme-Neuve, 93 km away. Manawan lies 95 km off, Mont-Laurier another 109 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac Longene should walk it once before setting up.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Lac Longene follows the weather closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try Lac de la Mousse, 0.7 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Longene in what we hold.
