Dull, settled light over the water, with a light chop building from the SW with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Long should be near the shallows early and the drop later. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Long is set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The water sits 293 metres up. The water covers some 79 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The outline measures near 7.8 km, so local knowledge counts. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. Nearest place of any size is L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur, 28 km away. Beyond it, Labrecque at 29 km and Sainte-Monique at 31 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Long the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Long follows the weather closely.
Access is not recorded for this water. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Cote, 3.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Long if anything is unclear.
