A mixed sky through the night, with the surface near flat with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac Long should come off windblown banks where food collects. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Long in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Around the bank it is pine and birch. It measures some 1.40 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. Some 16 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Few waters listed in Abitibi-Témiscamingue are bigger. Saint-Isidore lies 10 km from the water. Then Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues, 15 km, and Ville-Marie, 25 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Our records hold no depth for this water. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac Long fishes better once you know its edges.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -16°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Expect Lac Long to follow that timing.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac a Marcotte at 1.2 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Long should be assumed from this page alone.
