Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light S breeze and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Long around bays that hold the day's warmth. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

In Quebec, Lac Long falls inside Laurentides. The setting is pine and birch. Around 42 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline comes to about 4.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. Size puts it in the front rank of our Laurentides list. The town to know is Saint-Raphaël, 31 km out. Beyond it, Maniwaki at 35 km and Mont-Laurier at 43 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Work Lac Long in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Long runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Jaune, 3.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Long may have changed since it was mapped.
